I see you couldn't wade through The Shelters of Stone either. What a disappointment, after waiting so many years!

Didn't even know there was another volume in the series, it was just getting too predictable. Ayla would invent something that revolutionized pre-historic life, then would show it to someone else, who would make a pass at her, which of course she'd accept because that's how the Neanderthal's raised her, which would make Jondalar jealous and Ayla wouldn't understand why, but then they'd "make up" in great detail. Oh yes, Jondalar's, ummm, manliness would be mentioned several times per chapter. And of course Ayla is the most beautiful, intelligent woman anyone has ever seen and can cure anything with leaves and berries. Not to mention that she discovered "the pill" (or perhaps we should call it "the bark") a million years ago.

Considering that I read Plains of Passage when it first came out, I may be a little fuzzy on the details, but...
